Patent Analyst – IP Due Diligence

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Patent Analyst with expertise in intellectual property (IP) due diligence to support our R&D and business teams in evaluating patent landscapes, conducting prior-art searches, and assessing IP risks related to mergers, acquisitions, licensing, and partnerships.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharma/biologics, coupled with experience in patent analysis and IP strategy. Candidates with experience in Biologics IP will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare IP landscape reports to support research and development (R&D) initiatives.
- Conduct patentability, validity/invalidity, freedom-to-operate, and infringement searches within the biologics and small molecules domain.
- Analyze competitor IP portfolios and market trends to provide insights for business decisions.
- Monitor global patent filings and regulatory changes affecting biologics innovations.
- Perform IP due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, licensing deals, and strategic partnerships.
- Support patent prosecution activities, including invention disclosure reviews and patent application drafting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: M Pharm (Pharmaceutics / Pharmaceutical Chemistry) or Master’s degree (MSc) or Ph.D. in life sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in patent analysis and IP due diligence, specifically in pharmaceuticals or biologics
Freshers with a strong educational background and a strong desire to make a career in IP can also apply.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in patent databases (USPTO, EPO, WIPO, etc.), IP analytics tools, and legal frameworks governing patents.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex scientific data and patent claims.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting findings.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to conduct thorough research and provide accurate assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in biosimilars will be preferred. Candidates with experience in small molecule IP with a strong desire to work in biologics will also be considered.
- Familiarity with regulatory pathways for biologics (FDA, EMA, etc.) is an added advantage.
- Prior experience working with law firms, biotech companies, or research institutions.
